A few weeks ago I shared my top baby products from the ABC Kids Expo this year, and today I’m back with 10 high-tech baby gadgets from the show! Some of these are already on the market, and some will be making their debut in 2017.
To be honest I’m pretty low-key when it comes to baby gear, but I definitely would’ve loved that Smart Changing Pad from Hatch Baby with my first two babies. I had issues breastfeeding both of them and was always worried they were getting enough milk during feedings. I also think the pregnancy tracker and fetal monitor would be so helpful (and fun!) during pregnancy.
Bloomlife is a pregnancy tracker that automatically displays, tracks, and counts contractions. Simply attach the sensor to the patch, place the patch below your belly button, and sync via bluetooth. From there you’ll be able to record your data in the Bloomlife app. Available now from Bloomlife ($49 setup fee + $19 per week).
2 | CloudTot Smart Baby Monitor System from DockATot
A state-of-the-art smart monitor system that works exclusively with the DockATot. It features a unique baby awakening system that alerts parents when no motion is detected for 12 seconds and also has a device to gently nudge baby if needed. It can also detect moisture to alert parents when baby is wet and it will play sounds and music to sooth baby during rest time. Available spring 2017.
Momsense monitors and measures your baby’s milk intake in real time while you’re breastfeeding, creating a feeding diary with volume consumed & weight progress. In addition, you can listen to your baby nurse with the headphones and see your baby’s swallowing on the app screen. Available now from Target ($89.99).
4 | Grow Smart Changing Pad from Hatch Baby
Grow is the second generation (and more affordable!) Smart Changing Pad from Hatch Baby. It combines a traditional diaper changing pad with a built-in, wireless smart scale so you can easily track infant health metrics including weight, intake during feedings, diapers, length, and sleep. Available spring 2017 ($129).
5 | Starling Wearable Word Counter from VersaMe
Scientific research has shown the many benefits of speaking to your baby from the time they are a newborn. The Starling is a device that counts your words throughout the day (without recording), so you know you’re speaking enough to your baby. The Starling gives you your word count, as well as tips & activities to keep you talking. Available now from Amazon ($199).
6 | Parent + Baby Smartband from Project Nursery
The Parent + Baby Smartband is a multi-use tracker for both mama & to care for your new baby! It’s a traditional activity tracker that logs steps, distance, calories burned, and activity time, but it will also help track information on baby during those overwhelming first months. You can log info on breastfeeding, bottle feeding, diaper changes, medications, and naps, plus you can track fetal movements while pregnant! It has a touch screen display and a 30-day battery life. Available February 2017 ($149.99).
7 | Moxi Self-Charging Stroller from 4moms
The Moxi is a new generation of stroller that has two generators in the back wheels to create power on board features like pathway lights and taillights, plus an LCD dashboard that tracks & displays distance, speed, calories burned, temperature, and time. Plus you can plug in and charge your cell phone! The stroller has multiple seat configurations, and the seat easily converts to a bassinet so it will work with babies from birth. It can also be used as a travel system with the new 4moms Self Installing Car Seat (see below) and a few other brands. Available now from PishPosh Baby ($699.99).
8 | SNOO Smart Sleeper Bassinet from Happiest Baby
This one has a steep price tag, but claims to be the “safest and most effective baby bed ever made.” It was developed by Dr. Karp, who is well-known for his book The Happiest Baby on the Block and his 5 S’s method to calm a fussy baby (swaddling, shushing, swinging, sucking, and side position). This bassinet automates that process and helps boost a baby’s sleep and calm a baby’s fussing by responding to baby’s cry with varied levels of white noise and rocking. It also has a unique 5-second swaddle to keep babies safely on their back while in the bassinet. Available now from Happiest Baby ($1160).
9 | Self-Installing Carseat from 4moms
It’s been documented that four out of five car seats are installed incorrectly, but the new Self-Installing Car Seat from 4moms makes the process easier by doing most of the work for you! After you clip the latch belts on the base to the vehicle seat, it will install itself automatically by adjusting the level and tension. It also continuously monitors the status before and during every ride, giving you peace of mind every time your baby is in the car. Available now from Amazon ($499.99).
10 | Listen Dopper Fetal Monitor from Hatch Baby
Listen is an affordable doppler fetal monitor that allows you to listen and record your baby’s heartbeat while they’re in the womb. You can then save the recordings to your phone to save or share with family & friends. Available spring 2017 ($49).
